# Switzerland AI Community (SAIC)

> Talks, hands-on workshops, demos, and networking for AI practitioners and curious minds across Geneva and Lausanne. Come learn from practitioners, see AI applied, and meet the community.

The Switzerland AI Community (SAIC) is an independent, volunteer-run community for people who build, apply, and think about artificial intelligence in French-speaking Switzerland. We started in Geneva and now run events across Geneva and Lausanne, bringing together more than 1500 members in our WhatsApp group and over 700 followers on LinkedIn.

We meet roughly every two weeks. Speaker nights — our numbered SAIC events — pair a 30 to 40 minute talk from a practitioner with a long Q&A and plenty of time to talk afterwards. Hands-on workshops give you a laptop-open session on a specific tool or technique. Coffee & Prompt is our informal morning format: no slides, just people comparing what actually works. Across 45+ events we have hosted more than 50 speakers.

Our audience is deliberately mixed: machine-learning engineers and data scientists, founders and product people, consultants, researchers from EPFL and the University of Geneva, and plenty of people who are simply curious. Talks are in English, sessions are open to all levels, and there is no requirement to work in AI to come along. What we ask of speakers is the same thing we promise attendees: real-world experience over sales pitches.

## FAQ

- **What is the Switzerland AI Community?** SAIC is a volunteer-run AI community based in French-speaking Switzerland. We organise talks, hands-on workshops, demos, and networking evenings for AI practitioners and curious minds across Geneva and Lausanne. It is a community, not a company or a mailing list — 1500+ members, 45+ events hosted, and 50+ speakers so far.
- **Where and how often do you meet?** Roughly every two weeks, in Geneva and Lausanne. Speaker nights usually run on Monday evenings at 19:30 in Geneva, and typically draw 50 to 100 attendees. The venue changes depending on who is hosting us, so always check the event page before heading out.
- **Do I need to work in AI or be technical to attend?** No. Our events are open to all levels. The room is a mix of engineers, founders, consultants, students, and researchers, and talks are pitched for a mixed audience rather than for specialists only. If you are curious about AI and want to meet people working on it, you belong there.
- **What language are the events in?** English. The community is international, so talks, slides, and Q&A are in English, even though we are based in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. This website is available in English and French.
- **How much does it cost to attend?** Regular speaker events cost 5 CHF at the door for non-members. Annual members (100 CHF per year) walk in free to every regular event and get 20-30% off paid workshops and special events. Students can contact us for a discounted membership rate.
- **How do I find out about upcoming events?** Everything is announced in our WhatsApp group first — that is where registration links and last-minute changes go. You can also follow us on LinkedIn, sign up for the email newsletter, or check the events page on this site, which is updated automatically from our Luma calendar.
- **Can I speak at one of your events?** Yes, and we are always looking for speakers. The format is a 30 to 40 minute talk followed by Q&A, in English. We are interested in real-world AI applications: industry use cases, lessons learned, and live demos. We do not accept sales pitches. Propose a talk through the contact page.
- **Are the talks recorded?** Most speaker events are recorded and published on our YouTube channel, and the recordings are linked from each past event on the events page. Some sessions stay off the record at the speaker's request.
- **Can my company sponsor or host an event?** Yes. We work with partners on event sponsorship, ongoing strategic partnerships, venue partnerships where you host us in your space, and academic partnerships with universities and research institutions.
